Crafted, never posted

Here are a few things I've done lately. Building a house (oh, and a couple of holidays thrown in there as well) sure is taking up all my crafting time. I hope to get back to it in the days ahead.

Wallets I made for Christmas using this tutorial: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=190408.0

My first purse. I used a Sewing for Dummies pattern and did not like that instead of helping me, it made me feel more like a dummy! Anyway, I plugged along and finished it. I will try something different for my next attempt. This was done with no interfacing and with some scrap fabric, as it was a test.

Thanks for looking. Hopefully more to come soon!

Christmas is coming....

Well, not yet, but I'm attempting to be better prepared this year amidst the chaos in my life right now. At least my little helper is now ready to help me with all the Christmas cookies and crafts to come! I found this dish towel at the dollar store. The embroidery was already there (thus the slightly crooked lettering), along with the pom-poms. I cut about 3 inches off the top of the towel, which became the 3-pocket pouch where she can keep all of her tools and supplies. I think I'll be making more of these as gifts for her little friends. It was so easy!! Oh, and the best part is that it will grow with her! I followed this basic idea, but obviously "made it my own"! Click the first pic below to see the detail of the pockets. And the second one to see the button holes on the neck ribbon from my fancy machine that makes them automatically.

It seems that Thanksgiving is being shoved aside more and more because Christmas is so much more profitable for stores. I really don't want to do that and would like to make it a special time this year. If I have a bit of time (between cleaning the house and cooking for the big day), it would be nice to make something for "turkey day". If you have any cute craft ideas, please let me know.

My Pretty Poppet, Ariel

This is my newest creation. She's a poppet named Ariel. She's all dressed up for Halloween in her 80s Flashdance/Jane Fonda style. You can view my slideshow of her, that shows off her Cinderella costume, as well as her *bad* dancing queen moves!! View slideshow

Ariel is the brainchild of ghilie over at craftster.org. If you'd like to make one, ghilie has organized a craft-along where you can get the pattern from her and make one along with some other craftsters here.

Jaques-o'-lantern

Jaques-o'-lantern

Hello, and welcome to my crafty blog. I have always loved to make and create and be artistic (I very rarely visit that boring left side of my brain, lol!). A few years ago, I was given a wonderful, old Singer and I shamefully allowed it to sit and collect dust for a long time. I finally decided to blow off those dust bunnies and start stitching and was very pleased with what came out. I made a few dresses for my daughter, then a costume for the goose (you'll see that around Christmas time), then all types of lovely gifts for my daughter's birthday last month and now you just can't stop me! I got a new Brother CE-4000 for my birthday last week and absolutely adore it. So, if you like crafts and would like to join me on my little journey, please come along, comment as often as possible and show me what you're creating.
